Our ears are so used to the cacaphony that is churned out in the indipop scene that the moment slight melody surfaces,
it is lapped up as the next chartbuster. This is exactly the case with Sonu Nigam's 'Deewaana'.
After a long time we have melodious songs coming from a trained singer, a refreshing change from those innumerable wannabes who sprout in the indipop scene, with only music vedios to back them up. This album offers a blend of three elements, imperative to any music lover, harmonious tunes, a soothing voice and sensible lyrics.
It opens with 'Ab Mujhe Raat din', definitely the best the album has to offer. The song appeals immediately and it is not surprising to see the pace at which it is growing popular.
'Deewana tera' and 'Kuchh Tum Socho' are other tracks which would please the listners a great deal. The other songs to tend to grow on to you, as you listen to them a couple of times.
The only handicap of the album and perhaps a big one is that the songs are hard to distinguish from one another. Sajid-Wajid who are behind the music, have failed to be innovative. Somewhere down the line, monotony seeps in. Still, to be fair to the guys, I would say that the album definitely deserves appreciation. Even though the songs sound alike, it is no doubt that they sound good to the ear. They have what it takes, rhythm and flow.
