And he seems to be omnipresent on the entertainment front ! If it's not a music album that's in the making, he's busy hosting music shows on TV, or singing for Hindi films.
This multifaceted music artist was born on the 30th of July in Faridabad, and has spent most of his earlier years in New Delhi. He was much influenced and inspired by his father who was a singer and performer. At the tender age of 3,
Sonu accompanied his father Shri Agam Kumar Nigam to a show, where he gave his first public performance by singing a popular Mohahammad Rafi song 'Kya Hua Tera Vaada' from the film 'Hum Kisi se kam nahin'.
Sonu proceeded to Bombay aspiring for a break in the music industry. After it finally came, he has never looked back. Sonu's first break in pop music came with the release of ``Kismat'' which was very popular with the masses. 'Tu' was
one of the numbers which lent to the success of the album. His next release was 'Sanskar' which did not do as well as the previous one. However, 'Deewana' made up for everything. It contained excellent tracks supported by lively
videos. Even while 'Deewana' reigned supreme in the hearts of his fans, he came up with his next album 'Mausam'. This is definitely his best so far. Containing eight folk based tracks, it gels well with the masses. 'Bijuria', with
it's catchy tune and rhyming lyrics ensures the success of this album. His latest offering is 'Jaan'. This one is melody redefined.
Sonu Nigam has lately received popularity even for his excellent film numbers. Starting with 'Achcha Sila Diya' for the movie 'Bewafa Sanam' in the early 80's, he has sung for movies like 'Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya', 'Refugee' and
Jungle'. Some of his better numbers are Yeh Dil' from 'Pardes', 'Sandese Aate Hain' from 'Border' and 'Panchi Nadiyan' from 'Refugee'.
This young singer has a lot of potential and following his successes, it leaves us with no doubt that he is headed one way - straight to the top.
