Romance for all seasons

After the innovative Bijuria video, Sonu Nigam is back with another music video for his album Mausam. This time it is the title track which has been picturised. Released by Magnasound, the second video has been set in the picturesque locales of Goa. it is directed by Yogesh Sahu and features Sonu with the reigning Ms India Gul Panag.

Talking about the concept of the video, Yogesh says, “It is youthful in its outlook. Romance is rife in the air but this is not your usual mushy-mushy video. The video has a surprise end which I would not like to disclose at this point of time. It is for the viewers to see and enjoy. Sonu has a boy-next-door charm to him and I have retained that look in the video. In the Bijuria video, Sonu had adopted a new stylised look with a gelled, short hairdo, junkets round his neck etc. In Mausam, he retains his inherent charm in a more trendy fashion. He has also shaken a mean leg here under the supervision of choreographer Bhupi sayan.

Bhupi who is impressed with Sonu’s dancing reveals, “Since the time I first saw Sonu in his very first video of Tu, from his album Kismat, Sonu has improved as dancer. Initially I had decided to give him simple dance steps for the Mausam video. But as I started rehearsing with him I realised that Sonu could match my dance movements step by step. This realisation goaded me to try out some very difficult steps with Sonu and I must say that he accomplished them with the flair of a trained dancer.”

Speaking about her role in the video Gul Panag says, “My first video was for a song from Sonu’s Deewana and this is my second video, but this time I am pitted against Sonu himself. I have always been a Sonu Nigam fan. His voice, his stance, his disposition has always fascinated me and for me, working opposite my favourite singer is a dream come true. Sonu as co-star is extremely supportive and fun to work with.”

Sonu, the man around who this video revolves, says, “So far I have featured in three videos for Magnasound and all the three have been distinctly different from each other. This video required mostly outdoor shots and what better place Magnasound could take me to than my favourite Goa. And who else better to star opposite than Ms India herself with her brilliant smile. I hope my fans love this video because I have made it specially for them.”

Cinematography by Rasool Ellore is supposed to be another highlight of this video.
