Art has an instinct of expanding and exposing itself. Music is not an exception in it. But, for an upcoming artist this instinct of expansion and exposure is always pitted against the forces of poor promotion, geographic limitations and personal compulsions. TVS - Sa Re Ga Ma broadcasted on Zee TV
has literally proved to be a blessing for the talented upcoming singers.
The applicants for participation have to pass an audition test. Each cycle of episodes is divided into preliminary rounds and finals. After that the rounds of mega quarter finals, mega semi finals and the point of admiration: Mega finals. Where the participants are judged by the living legends of classical
and film music. The dream of the programme director Gajendra Singh started to come true.
Another attraction is a young singer Sonu Nigam who is anchoring
the show. Parthiv sent his audiocassette to participate in the programme. Later he was called for an audition test where 18 out of 100 contestants were selected. He sailed smoothly through the preliminary rounds then won the 8th schduled of sa re ga ma. Then he won / conquered round of mega semi finals and entered the mega final. He was applauded for his singing of ketki gulab juhi sung by legendary pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Manna De.
Again he mesmerized the judges in semi finals by singing aaj gavat man mero from the film Baiju Bawra sung by shri D V Puluskar. His lack of variation in folk songs round in mega
finals put him behind the expected no.1 position. He emerged as a runner up of mega final. But even that achievement is also not easy to get and to digest.
