It's official now. Sonu Nigam is out of the popular as hell music talent show Sa Re Ga Ma which runs on Zee TV. Sa Re Ga Ma which, has fans amongst both the young old alike, has completed 250 episodes. It is learnt that Aman and Ayan the sons of sarod maestro, Ustad Amjad Ali, Khan are to replace the Bollywood singing sensation, but not until mid-May.
Rumor had it that Sonu Nigam, who is a big star in himself, was demanding more from the show in monetary terms. And that he had become increasingly difficult with the production team, trying to arrange shooting schedules for the show that suited him rather than the team. Basically he had become too big bit for his boots, says an insider. The change in attitude became more apparent ever since he started getting some success as a Hindi film playback singer, and got noticed and recognised for his bubble-gum and sweet-as-cream pop albums.
Satish Menon, Deputy CEO, Zee Telefilms, puts all these rumors to rest. "The show has already completed 250 episodes. Besides Sonu has also become a brand in himself. He was finding it
difficult to manage all these things at one time. It was all settled very amicably." Speaking to a local newspaper Sonu also echoed the same views; "I haven't taken a holiday for 7 years. I need some time for my other projects." All said and done one hopes that the new guys fit into Sonu's shoes. After all it is rather difficult to get the sort of fan following that Sonu did and the kind of popularity the show got. But then again being the sons of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan is a big plus, the guys definitely know their music and they look good too. Double the good looks, double the music knowledge.
Will that lead to a doubly good show and double the viewership ratings?
